Glastonbury: Day -1

I’m currently attempting to squash everything into a rucksack I thought was very big but clearly is not big enough at all and then hopefully I’ll be able to get a few hours sleep. Tomorrow morning, I’ll be off to Glastonbury.

Last year was the first time in quite a few years that I didn’t go to the festival, and as I watched the coverage on TV, I felt like I didn’t want to miss it again. My first Glastonbury was in 1998, when I was 17 years old. It was a famously muddy year, but the line-up was tremendous, with Primal Scream, Blur and Pulp headlining. The place feels like a home-from-home now, and although many new things have been added and sometimes moved around over the years, there are so many landmarks from stages to stalls that appear in the same place each year, so the site feels as familiar as any city I’ve lived in.

I’ll hopefully be blogging every night from the site, plus I’ll be tweeting and posting pics here, as part of The Guardian’s Glastonbury coverage.

Now to try to finish packing and hopefully get some sleep…
