More news on 24 Hour Panel People

As previously reported, this weekend David Walliams will be taking part in 24 hours of TV panel games and gameshows for Comic Relief in his latest test of endurance. Details have now been released of most of the shows, old and new, he’ll be taking part in:

  • Whose Line Is It Anyway A classic line-up of Tony Slattery, Josie Lawrence and Neil Mullarkey join David and, of course, host Clive Anderson for the never-bettered improv game.
  • Never Mind The Buzzcocks Chris O’Dowd is among those taking part.
  • QI Stephen Fry hosts and David (possibly in Alan Davies’ chair) is joined by Russell Tovey, Sue Perkins and Sean Lock.
  • The Generation Game Hosted by Vernon Kay, David and his mum will compete against Miranda Hart and her on-screen mother, Patricia Hodge.
  • Blankety Blank Presented by Paul O’Grady, who previously hosted the show as Lily Savage, with Barbara Windsor and David Tennant among the celebrity panel.
  • They Think It’s All Over Nick Hancock will be back in the chair for the comedy sports quiz.
  • Would I Lie To You Team captains David Mitchell and Lee Mack are joined by Fay Ripley and Claudia Winkleman.
  • Through The Keyhole Sir David Frost and Loyd Grossman will be involved, as ever.
  • Mock The Week Dara O’Briain hosts the topical panel show as usual.
  • 8 Out Of 10 Cats Jimmy Carr hosts, with Sean Lock, Jamelia, Josh Widdicombe and Jon Richardson joining David on the panel.
  • Just A Minute Hosted, of course, by Nicholas Parsons, with David being joined by Shelia Hancock, Tony Hawks and Lee Mack.
  • Celebrity Juice Leigh Francis hosts the ITV 2 show with regulars Rufus Hound and Jedward joined by Lauren Lavern, Germaine Greer and, of course, David.
  • Give Us A Clue The classic ITV charades game with the singalong theme tune will feature – of course – Una Stubbs and Lionel Blair.
  • It’s Only TV Jack Dee presents Jonathan Ross’s barely remembered late-90s show, with David joined on the panel by Charlie Brooker, Danny Wallace, Ulrika Jonsson and Tom Deacon
  • Room 101 David Walliams will be in the chair with Nick Hancock (I like Paul Merton, but Hancock was always the best host of this) presenting.
  • What’s My Line David is joined by Stephen K Amos and Christopher Biggins for a revival of the BBC’s first panel show.
  • Argumental The underrated and recently cancelled Dave show will see regulars Marcus Brigstocke and Rufus Hound joined by David, Jo Brand, Dara O’Briain and Germaine Greer.
  • Call My Bluff Russell Tovey is amongst those taking part in the classic game of unusual words.
  • Mastermind David will be one of the contestants on the famous black chair, with Griff Rhys Jones taking up quizmaster duties.
  • Have I Got News For You The behemoth of panel shows sees David joined by Jason Manford and Patrick Kielty.

As well as those twenty shows, there’ll apparently be one or two surprise rounds along the way, specifically devised to test David’s powers of endurance and ability to stay awake. As mentioned before, it’ll be streaming live on bbc.co.uk/rednoseday from midday on Saturday, with edited higlights screening in the build-up to Red Nose Day on BBC Three.

  1. thought i should make a correction, according to the bbc press release, Paul O Grady will present blankty blank as himself and not lily savage, but you never know he might make a surpise. this is amazing what david is doing, I kinda dont want to leave the house and just watch this all day
